As a birthworker, my goal is to support parents in making informed decisions and in feeling supported, heard, and adequately cared for, regardless of where or how they chose to give birth. My hope is that my client feels comfortable, empowered, and to have positive memories of their birth.

According to DONA, research shows some of the benefits of birth doula support to be:

• Increased confidence in birthing person
• Decreased anxiety for the family
• Better APGAR scores in newborns
• Improved postpartum mental health
• Family bonding and support for partners and siblings
• Less likely to need Pitocin
• Less likely to have a cesarean birth
• Less likely to use pain medication
• Less likely to need forceps and vacuum
• More likely to rate their childbirth experience positively

All packages include:

• A free 1-2 hour consult where we figure out what kind of support feels helpful to you + schedule 2 follow up prenatal appointments upon decision to go with Dou North care.
• Flexible support during labour and birth AND 8 – 12+ hours of inital postpartum support
• Free hands-on breastfeeding/chestfeeding support immediately following birth
• 2 two hour postpartum visits to discuss and process your birth, further assist with nursing/feeding, any light help around the house and more
• Text/email/phone support for 2 weeks leading up to your birth and 6 weeks after as needed
• *Two doulas who can rotate or stand in for one another in the case of emergency or illness

Some ideas of what may be helpful:

• Creating a birth plan
• Creating feeding plans for your infant(s)
• Advocating for wants and needs before, during, and after birth in a healthcare setting or at home
• Creating a relaxing and supportive atmosphere in your chosen birthing space
• Active engagement with partner and other children in the home before, during, and after
• Light meal prep, water refills, tea brewing, and other basic personal care support
• Managing comfort measures during labour (ie. massage and/or acupressure, birthing/peanut ball, positioning and movement, etc.)

Pricing and payment(s) will be discussed at the initial meeting, and the investment you are making for Dou North Care starts at $1,000.00.
